How are the online surfers finding a website? Particularly your website? The parable, "If I make a web site, people will come," is still a usually held belief among companies and organizations new to the Internet. People will not come to the web site unless you encourage the site both on the web and off the web.
Web sites are encouraged on the web via search engines, directories, award sites, banner advertising, electronic magazines (e-zines) and links from other web sites. If you are not familiar with any of these on the web terms, then it is best that you have the site encouraged by an on the web marketing professional. Web sites are encouraged off the web via the conservative advertising methods: print ads, radio, television, brochures, word-of-mouth, etc. Once you have created a web site, all of the company's printed materials including business cards, stationary, envelopes, invoices, etc. must have the URL printed on them.
